The Indian subcontinent is one of the most diverse lands found anywhere in the world, It has been influenced by a history that is several millennia old, beginning with the Indus Valley Civilization. Many of its cultural elements, such as religions, philosophy, cuisine, languages, dance, and music have had a profound impact across the world.

 

India, in particular, has given birth to four new religions in the world, i.e., Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism and Jainism.

The "Char Dham Yatra"
(India)

The Chota Char Dham (The small four abodes/seats' or 'the small circuit of four abodes/seats') is an important Hindu pilgrimage circuit in Uttarakhand, in the Indian Himalayas. Located in the Garhwal region of the state of Uttarakhand, the circuit consists of four sites—GangotriYamunotriKedarnath, and Badrinath.

 

Badrinath is also one of the four destinations (with each destination being in different corners of the country) of the longer Char Dham from which the Chota Char Dham likely draws its name.

Akshaya Tritiya (April or May in the Gregorian calendar) marks the beginning of the Chota Char Dham Yatra and closes 2 days after Diwali.

Munneswaram Temple
(Srilanka)

The legend mentions that after defeating King Ravana, Lord Rama left for Ayodhya in the Pushpak Viman but felt that he was being followed by Brahmahathi Dosham (the curse of killing a Brahmin). But he stopped here as he felt that the Dosham wasn’t following him here. He prayed to Lord Shiva who advised him to install and pray at four lingams in Manavari, Thiru Koneswaram, Thiruketheeswaram, and Rameshwaram to get rid of the Dosham.

 

Manavari Temple or Ramalinga Shivan: According to the legend, it is here that Lord Rama first installed a Shiva lingam. It is the only lingam in the world that is named after Lord Rama other than Rameshwaram.

Muktinath 
(Nepal)

Muktinath (3710 M) is a famous pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists. It is the sacred place for salvation which lies behind the mountains. It includes the Pagoda-style temple of Vishnu which contains the image of Vishnu. Another major attraction is Mukti Kunda: two holy ponds “Laxmi” and ‘Saraswati” Kunda located in front of the temple.

 

It is believed that taking the plunge in these ponds will rinse away your sin. Muktinath, which is the Sanskrit name itself, has its religious history. On this site, the bells of Hinduism and the flag of Buddhists are in the same space which recognises unity in diversity.

Peace and harmony that is flourishing around the temple. The Hindu god, Brahma is said to have lithe eternal flames that burn at Muktinath. People also have the holy bath at 108 taps which are behind the temple. Coldwater from the Himalaya flows throughout the year.

Hemkund
(India)

Gurudwara Shri Hemkund Sahib is in Chamoli District, Uttarakhand, India. Being as the Sacred DasamGranth and Ramayana, Hemkund Sahib is a religious place where devotees get their sins vanished with its serene environment. This religious place is found in the autobiography of Guru Gobind Singh in “Bachitra Natak”.

 

However, people also believe in the existence of this place from the periods of Ramayana. Apart from Sikh religious connections, Hemkund sahib is also connected with Lord Shiva and Vishnu. Therefore, It is believed that the spiritual life of a Human is incomplete without visiting here.
